Member: Dr. Antonio Longo

pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Antonio Longo as a member of its
Board of Directors. In a brief statement, Chairman Antonio Monroig said,
“Tony Longo has shown a lifelong commitment to the Puerto Rico statehood
movement and a great love for Puerto Rico. His talents and enthusiasm will be
of tremendous benefit to our organization.” Dr. Longo brings a long
history of active support for the cause of Statehood for Puerto Rico. Dr.
Longo is a retired physician, a native of Puerto Rico and has resided and
practiced in Virginia during the last 44 years. He was President of
Pulmonary Internists, and served as Medical Director of Circle Terrace Hospital
and subsequently worked for Genesis Elder Care and directed their office medical
laboratory in Alexandria, Va.
A graduate
of Georgetown Medical School, a Fellow of the University Hospital of San Diego
and also Georgetown University Hospital, a former Officer of the U.S. Air Force,
sat on the Board of the 8th District Medical Board and was also its
Vice-Councilor. Presided the Alexandria Medical Society and was Chief of
Medicine at National Hospital in Arlington,Va. Dr. Longo was a founding
member of Estadistas Unidos at its inception, possibly one of the first formally
organized statehood movements, which evolved into what is known today as Don
Luis Ferre’s…Statehood Party. He has been a lifelong member of the
Republican Party and was National Committeeman of Puerto Rico Young Republicans.
